Two Goats and a Donkey!

Monday, November 3, 2025

Howdy folks! Can't believe we're already into November. This year has been so weird, and has flown by so fast! Ian and I have discussed how time seems to be going much faster than the "time goes faster as you get older" phenomenon. There's a certain theory that the earth has fallen into a black hole - whether just the earth or just the solar system is debatable, but it seems as if that were the case, we'd be seeing the rest of the universe differently than we did and it would be a physical piece of evidence. However, if it were the entire universe that fell into a "super-universe" (extra-universe?) black hole, that would explain why we're not seeing any actual evidence of it. Or...maybe "we" (the government) are seeing evidence, but the government and NASA are suppressing it. Of course, there could be other reasons for what seems to be going on. Maybe instead of a black hole, we fell into an alternate universe, or into a paranormal universe - any number of possible options, including that it's just nature being nature and nothing external has occurred at all.

We may or may not ever find out!

So, I've had it in my mind to move out west. Specifically, I feel a pull towards New Mexico. I've been looking into the state and comparing cities/towns on what would be best for me if I should actually move there. At first, I was thinking Las Cruces, because initially it sounded ideal. However, then I started seeing that the crime rate there is higher than some of the other cities I was considering, so it fell off my radar. I then started looking much more closely at the northern half of the state since the crime rate is much lower, specifically at the cities of Santa Fe and Taos. Taos was the front runner for the longest time, but then I started doing more research into the job markets, and realized I may not be able to get year-round employment there. So then I looked back at Santa Fe, but I really didn't want to live in a larger city, and I let my search expand into the suburbs around Santa Fe. Some of them looked fine, but I would definitely have to work in the city while living in the suburbs, and while that would have been fine, I then discovered Los Alamos, about 35 miles from Santa Fe (and somehow still considered a suburb of it), which initially sounded bad to be (high cost of living), but it also has a high-paying job market that is relatively active. So at least for the time being, Los Alamos is at the top of the list.

Why do I want to move there? I'm tired of living in a red state, tired of the bigotry and hatred that the Hospitality State is known for, and also tired of the high humidity and crushing summer heat. While a good portion of New Mexico is desert, it's a drier heat in the southern portion of the state, while the northern portion is more of a high desert - low humidity and better summer temperatures. Snow in the winter, especially around Los Alamos, which is in the mountains. Since I've lost weight, I have also lost a lot of my cold tolerance, so I'm not totally sure how I'd do in snow now lol. Hopefully it would be just fine, and I can certainly put on layers to keep warm. And, of course, it's still just a possible future, not one set in stone. Still, it would be fantastic to get out of this state and move to a blue one, even if I did see something the other day that referred to New Mexico as a purple state (mixture of both), but I've literally never seen this anywhere else. I really need to go visit the state before deciding on anything concerning a move there. I've spoken with a coworker who lived and visited in New Mexico quite often, and he loves the state, telling me that any of my choices would be perfect. Taos is still a possibility if I can end up with a remote job or start up a successful internet business. Speaking of which...

...I'm really interested in getting into candlemaking, as it's something I've been wanting to do for a very long time. Again, just a pipe dream, but if I could get good at it, and get into selling them for a profit, I could theoretically make a living from making them and selling them online. And it would be cool living in Taos, since that's pretty much an artist's town, and living amongst artistic people who are very accepting of my so-called "lifestyle".

Anywho, that's it for now! I'll leave some pics below, of course, which are mostly self-explanatory. The three mouse detective ones are from a story that Curt wrote a couple of decades ago. He was surprised that I remembered that story! Little does he know that it's one of my favorite memories of him and I.
